Dreams and Twenty Wishes

I am not sure what happened to this post. I tried to edit it, then i lost a lot of text. This is my thankful Thursday post.... I'm sorry i lost your comments, friends... Is it my computer, or Blogger?

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Currently, I am reading Debbie Macomber's 'Twenty Wishes.' It's a story of a group of widows who met at a book discussion, who gathered together for Valentine's Day. That night, they all decided to come up with a list of their twenty wishes - dreams of their youth, wishes they've forgotten. As i got to page 15, I found myself making my own list. YAY!!!!

And you won't believe how everything just started coming back to me. Here are some of them, I haven't gotten to twenty yet :

own a piano (and play it of course)

~ take singing lessons ~

~ dance for exercise and learn to dance the salsa ~ ??? hmmm.....

~ visit Vancouver again.....~

~ have a beautiful reading room ~

Home Library Party

To welcome autumn and celebrate old dreams, I am hosting a party!

My love of books began when I was in college. I read for a few years, then stopped, then read again, then stopped, and here I am, now part of a neighborhood book club. Now that I re-discovered my dream of having a 'reading rooom' or a home library, I am inspired. Yes, I am hosting a Home Library Party!

Do you have a special corner at home where you like to read, or where you store and display your treasured books? Do you have or want to have that getaway where you can just read in peace and silence and escape to another world? Do you have books that you hang on to, even if you've read them only once? Do you have books that you've been meaning to read, but are just sitting on the shelf gathering dust? Let's celebrate them, and maybe we'll do some reading when the cold months come. It is high time (for me at least) to fix that cluttered book case and get closer to my dream.

It's The Drama

I love taking photos of our home. I think it's the drama that makes it so appealing to me. ( The drama is so me LOL). When we built our home, we had no idea how it was going to look like. We chose a floor plan that suited our lifestyle and one that was within our budget.

The brick supplier showed us some sample bricks inside a conference room at my husband's workplace, where the lighting was not very good. I went with my gut, my choice had a touch of yellow and gray. To see an actual house with this brick, we drove around in the rain nearing the winter season.

And here's the result, our lovely dramatic home sitting gracefully on our lot, greeting everyone who drives into our neighborhood.

On landscaping: I really prefer mulch for the beds instead of rocks, but mulch is expensive. We originally mulched the beds but when it was time re-mulch, it was going to cost at least $1000. And so my husband, ever the accountant, decided to get rocks. It is rocky all around, but I know I can always soften the beds by adding more plants. This month, I moved four coreopsis early sunrise plants to the ground. I grew them from seed.

It is so satisfying for me to do this. Grow my flowers and plant them where I want them. Yes, I think, with the way I planted the coreposis, there's more drama again. Hmmm... what can I plant in between them? Something low. Maybe this, or this. What do you think? And look at this, it's drought tolerant, fragrant, (drama) and it spreads, and someday, it can take over the rocks! And then our home will look more like a cottage and less formal. Yes, I think I want to go with #3, Nepeta Walker's Low. Here's another picture:

My Windows

Hi. This is a little late for Cielo's party, but I'm sharing with you my windows anyway.

We finally hung curtains in the master bedroom. I've waited for this for so long! They are dark brown, because I want a blue and chocolate color in the bedroom someday. I already have the blue sheets. As you can see, it's still a work in progress..

I just love the privacy and comfort it gives me. I think I will paint the walls sky blue someday.

Now, after visiting Cielo's Enchanted Windows party, I realize that I have beautiful windows. My mind has just been too cluttered lately, I have been unable to appreciate as much beauty as there is. So, this post will be edited today, I will be adding more window pictures!

Now here is where I sit, read, pray, think, and fall asleep LOL... By these windows, I grow flowers from seed. It turns into a greenhouse in March.
